LOWELL, MA – New details have been released about a car accident in Lowell Sunday morning that left one person dead and three others injured.
According to WHDH, authorities have identified the woman who was killed in the incident. She was 34-year-old Yolanda Mejia of Lowell.
Mejia was a passenger in a car that crashed near the intersection of Bunker Hill Avenue and Lakeview Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. Investigators determined that a Lowell man driving west on Lakeview Avenue accelerated and hit four cars, then struck a utility pole. Mejia was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver—a man in his 50’s who has not been identified—and two passengers in the back seat were seriously injured and transported to area hospitals.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
