MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MA – One person is dead and another is facing criminal charges following a wrong-way, two-vehicle crash on Saturday.
NBC 10 Boston reports that the collision happened on Beach Road in Tisbury at about 8 p.m. on December 19. A southbound Nissan SUV traveled into oncoming lanes in order to pass a pair of vehicles, and then collided with a northbound Volkswagen Beetle. Emma Hall, the Beetle’s 22-year-old driver, died at the scene, while two passengers were taken to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. One of these passengers was later taken to a hospital in Boston for additional treatment.
The Nissan’s driver, 25-year-old Zachary Dupon, received minor injuries and was treated at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. He has since been released, and now faces a number of charges, including motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation. Bail has been set at $25,000.
