December 22, 2020

HINGHAM, MA – A 28-year-old jogger in Hingham sustained serious injuries last night after she was struck by a driver who then fled the scene of the accident.

According to WHDH, the accident occurred on Lincoln Street at 7:24 p.m., as the jogger was running southbound along the side of the roadway. An unknown driver hit her from behind, then sped away from the scene.

The victim, who was not publicly identified in the report, was taken to the hospital for the treatment of serious injuries. She is expected to survive.

Authorities state that the vehicle in question would have damage to the passenger-side headlight. They have not yet released a description of its driver.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.

While any traffic accident can be a terrifying experience, accidents involving pedestrians tend to be especially traumatic. As pedestrians have little protection against the impact of a vehicle, it is up to individual drivers to take special care while on the road. Sadly, not all motorists take this responsibility as seriously as they should. If you or a loved one have been involved in an accident or have been hurt while crossing the street, the legal team at Kelly & Associates Injury Lawyers can help you receive compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and other expenses.
