October 29, 2020

NEWBURY, MA – A 69-year-old man was killed and four others were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash on Route 1 earlier this week, according to the Daily News of Newburyport.

The accident happened near Elm Street and The Governor’s Academy on Monday when 69-year-old Cambridge man Christopher Brown reportedly lost control of his vehicle. He collided with a guardrail, then went across the center line and into oncoming traffic, where he crashed into another vehicle.

Two other vehicles were also involved in the collision.

Brown died at the scene.

Two people were taken to the hospital for the treatment of serious injuries, and another two were brought in for treatment of non-critical wounds.

Authorities closed both directions of Route 1 for several hours as they investigated the collision.
