HINGHAM, MA – A 9-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital in serious condition Wednesday evening after being hit by an SUV at a school crosswalk in Hingham.
According to the Patriot Ledger, the accident happened at about 5:30 p.m. on 200 High Street, near the Plymouth River School, as two 9-year-old boys were crossing at a crosswalk.
An SUV, driven by a 61-year-old woman from Scituate, struck one of the boys after pulling around another vehicle that was stopped to allow the children to cross the street.
One of the boys was taken to a Boston hospital by medical helicopter with serious injuries. The other child was not injured in the accident.
The driver remained at the scene after striking the boy and has received multiple citations, including failing to yield to a pedestrian and negligent operation of a vehicle.
